Rebutia arenacea
Rebutia arenacea (formerly Sulcorebutia arenacea) is a charming, miniature cactus native to the dry, inter-Andean valleys of Cochabamba, Bolivia. This tidy, low-growing succulent features perfectly symmetrical stems under 2 inches tall and wide, adorned with distinctive "pectinate" spines that lie flat against the ribs of its tubercles. In spring, it produces stunning yellow to orange flowers and often forms clusters of offsets with age. Revered for its beauty even without blooms, this species thrives in cultivation and makes an excellent addition to specialized collections. However, it is sensitive to frost and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
