Orbea semota x Orbea variegata (hybrid)
This is a cross between two closely related stapeliads: Orbea semota and Orbea variegata. The stems are green to grey-green with maroon splotches, angled edges, and soft teeth, forming a sprawling mat over time. Flowers are star-shaped and heavily patterned, blending the yellow background and bold maroon blotches of O. variegata with the smaller spotting and more compact form of O. semota.
Like many Orbea, it prefers bright indirect light and excellent drainage. Water thoroughly when dry, and protect from cold and excess moisture in winter. Blooms may have a mild carrion scent to attract pollinators, best enjoyed outdoors or with good airflow.
