Mammillaria elongata 'Ladyfinger'
This is a particularly colorful and robust form of the classic Mammillaria elongata, also known as the 'Ladyfinger' cactus. While the species is highly variable, this selection stands out. It is distinguished by its thicker, more substantial stems compared to some other popular cultivars, and its vibrant pinkish-orange spine color.
Like the parent species, it branches profusely to form a dense cluster of finger-like stems. The spines are arranged in a comb-like (pectinate) fashion that hugs the stems closely. In the spring, it can produce a ring of small, whitish, pale yellow, or pinkish flowers near the top of each stem. It is considered one of the easiest Mammillaria species to grow, making it a rewarding choice for any collection.
