Cleistocactus Winteri - Golden Rat Tail
This is a remarkable columnar cactus known for its vigorous growth and cascading green shoots, forming expansive tangled mounds. Endemic to Bolivia, this species thrives in the unique habitat of cliffside forests in seasonally dry inter-Andean valleys.
It features long, golden-colored drooping stems that quickly intertwine into dense scrubs. From spring to frost, it adorns itself with vivid orange to salmon-pink flowers that appear repetitively and abundantly on mature plants, each bloom lasting several days. These trailing stems can reach up to 1.5 meters in length, creating an impressive display in hanging baskets or cascading over containers.
Given its rapid growth, it needs fresh potting mix every year or two, or regular fertilization.
Some have additional branches starting, others do not.
