Frailea mammifera subs. angelesiae
A tiny, dark purple-brown cactus from South America, Frailea mammifera subsp. angelesiae stays under 3 cm tall and slowly forms small clumps over time. Its rounded tubercles and fine, ginger-colored spines give it a distinctive texture, and in summer it can produce bright yellow flowers that are often larger than the plant itself.
This is a slow-growing species that does well in a small pot with a gritty, well-drained mix. Prefers bright indirect light and warm temperatures. Water thoroughly during active growth, but allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, keep cool and mostly dry, this species can pull itself partly underground during dormancy.
Seed-grown, not grafted. A great choice for collectors with limited space.
